Good Designers
Reimagining the creator ecosystem for deep case studies
A free, community-first portfolio hosting and case study builder platform designed to help creators publish long-form work, protect NDA projects, and share with confidence.

Overview
What shipped
Good Designers is a free, community-first ecosystem built to move beyond “aesthetic shots” and enable deep, high-impact case studies. It combines frictionless onboarding, a dual publishing engine, and granular privacy controls so designers can safely share real client work with recruiters and teams.
Platforms like Dribbble have evolved into hyper-monetized visual feeds prioritizing quick “shots” over design thinking, while pushing key community features behind paywalls. Behance supports long-form work, but lacks modern privacy controls and UX tooling tailored for real UX case studies. The mission: build a free alternative that rewards depth, supports flexible publishing workflows, and protects IP for NDA-bound work.

Problem → Solution Matrix
- The NDA dilemma → Password protection, link locking, and invite-only access → Safely share sensitive enterprise work with verified hiring managers
- Workflow fragmentation → Dual publishing engine: DIY block builder + single long image upload → Supports both narrative case studies and high-fidelity visual decks
- Onboarding fatigue → Personalized preference engine during onboarding → Reduces time-to-value and improves early retention
High-Conversion Authentication & Onboarding
- Split-screen auth that blends clean workspace UI with high-inspiration visuals to set a premium creative tone
- Dedicated OTP verification UI to focus attention and reduce drop-offs
- Interest/tool personalization step to instantly curate a relevant dashboard and community feed

Workspace & Dual Publishing Engine
- Minimal showcase dashboard: name/bio/social proof on the left; the visual canvas stays primary
- Two-track creation modal: DIY block builder for structured narratives, and single long image upload for Behance-style decks
- Clear microcopy around constraints (e.g., total image storage budget) to set expectations early
Security, Privacy & Asset-Control Drawer
- Contextual project drawer replaces deep settings pages for faster share-time edits
- Link locking and password modals designed as lightweight micro-interactions for confidence
- Team invites, custom URL routing, and safe destructive actions (double confirmation)

Premium Case Study Presentation (Light / Dark + Responsive)
- Light theme optimized for corporate review: strong typography, crisp baselines, and long-form readability
- Dark theme optimized for community browsing: image-forward layouts with reduced strain
- Defensive responsiveness from desktop to mobile so case studies stay readable across viewports
Engineering & System Mapping (Architecture Plan)
- Next.js (App Router) for SSR on public profiles (SEO) plus client hydration for interactive builders
- Tailwind CSS + modular components to render consistent Light/Dark themes
- Node.js backend pipeline for upload handling and image optimization (compression + metadata stripping) to respect storage budgets
- JWT-based access control and encrypted checks for password-locked links before serving protected case studies
“Contextual utility over menu depth: security settings are most often changed at the moment of sharing, so placing them directly on the project drawer reduces share-time friction and speeds up protected sharing.”
